To underpin our commitment to serve patients in China, Amgen is now establishing a Research and Development facility in Shanghai. Amgen R&D Shanghai Discovery Research laboratory will focus on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), an important class of signaling molecules and potential drug targets. The laboratory is looking for a highly self-motivated and creative scientist to join the Antibody Discovery Group. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the research team, collaborate with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and work closely with teams in other functional areas and local CROs.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities for this position are:

·Perform molecular cloning for construction of large antibody libraries; isolate target-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) by phage display and high throughput screening; engineer mAbs for affinity maturation by yeast display

·Express and purify mAbs using prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems

·Characterize isolated mAbs for binding activity using a wide range of techniques, including ELISA, flow cytometry, Surface Plasmon Resonance, etc.

·Develop and validate cell-based, biochemical or biophysical assays to support structure biology research and therapeutic discovery efforts

Basic Qualifications

·Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Immunology with 4 years of related experience

·Experience in protein expression and purification and protein analytical analysis

·Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English

Preferred Qualifications

·Strong scientific knowledge in the large molecule bioanalytical field

·Technical expertise in antibody phage display and yeast display

·Knowledgeable, highly self-motivated, creative, and collaborative

·A proven track record of productivity, effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a team environment
