涌潮是入海河流河口段的一种潮水暴涨自然景观现象。地球上有数百个河口受到涌潮的影响。中国钱塘江涌潮以其宏阔气势，以及兼具自然与文化的复合景观属性而闻名海内外。鉴于钱塘江涌潮景观的重要性，亟需加强国内外学者交流与合作，探讨国际涌潮研究未来发展方向，深化保护治理研究、聚集全球智慧共商钱塘江涌潮景观申遗工作。

2025涌潮国际学术会议拟定于2025年10月7–9日在中国浙江省杭州市临安区浙江农林大学举办。本次会议将以涌潮景观保护与可持续发展为目标引领，搭建跨领域交流平台，为全球研究者、保护实践者及政策制定者提供深度对话契机，协同推进涌潮自然与文化景观研究与未来涌潮的遗产保护进程。现将本次会议有关事项通知如下。

三、会议内容

本次会议将采用多元化的交流形式，包括学术报告、青年学者论坛、圆桌讨论以及专业考察。具体安排如下：

1.学术报告：邀请国内外专家、学者作特邀学术报告。

2.青年学者论坛：展示优秀青年学者（含在读硕博研究生）的研究成果。

3.圆桌讨论：围绕特定热点议题，邀请资深专家引导，组织全体参会者共同参与互动讨论。

4.专业考察：会议期间将组织参会人员开展项目学习交流，拟安排现场观潮科考及相关遗址参观等，参会人员可根据自身需求选择参加。

2025 International Symposium on Tidal Bore

Hangzhou, China, - October 7-9

Tidal bore, a natural phenomenon characterised by rapid tidal rise, occurs in river estuaries worldwide. While numerous estuaries are affected by tidal bores, none is as awe-inspiring as the Qiantang River in Hangzhou. Here, waves reaching heights of up to five metres traverse one of Asia’s most modern and culturally sophisticated landscapes.

Celebrated for two millennia in literature and art, this marvel seamlessly integrates nature, culture, and science, attracting millions of visitors annually.

Recognising the unique beauty of this scenery, there is a pressing need for increased collaboration between domestic and international scholars to delve into tidal bore research, enhance its protection, and explore its potential inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage.

In response to this call, the 2025 International Symposium on Tidal Bore will be held from October 7 to 9 at Donghu Campus,

Zhejiang A&F University in Lin’an District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

The symposium will establish a multi-disciplinary platform, facilitating in-depth dialogue among global researchers, conservation practitioners, and policymakers. This collaborative approach will empower them to safeguard the tidal bore landscape and foster its sustainable development.

Led by the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, the symposium will be hosted by the following entities:

1) The Cultural Landscape Committee of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture

2) Zhejiang Qiantang River Basin Centre (also Zhejiang Qiantang River Management Bureau)

3) Zhejiang Institute of Hydraulics and Estuary (also Zhejiang Institute of Marine Planning and Design)

During the symposium, presentations, youth forums, panels, and field study (on-site tidal bore watching) will be organized and conducted with the following themes by Zhejiang A&F University and Zhejiang Society of Qiantang Bore:

1) In situ observation and other research methods for tidal bore

2) Landscape protection and development of tidal bore

3) Engineering research on resource utilisation and disaster prevention for tidal bore

4) Theory and strategy for applying Qiantang Tidal Bore for UNESCO World Heritage

The registration fee for the symposium is ¥1500.00. Hotel accommodation will be recommended. But the hotel expense and that of the transportation are not covered.
